I mean, that’s neat, and fuck Michelle Bachman and all, but, again, the question isn’t “What place in MN sucks the most” it’s “what part of MN is only talked about to be made fun of?” And, like... that’s not St. Cloud, bro? It’s just not. Edina and Brainerd may not suck as much as St. Cloud (Brainerd definitely doesn’t, I mean, don’t get me wrong, it’s literally a truck stop town, but it’s a *nice* truck stop) but they do get made fun of quite a bit more.

Also, like... I am speaking as someone who has been involved in activisim here since the 90s, literally since I was a child. Fuck literally everyone who has ever held elected office at the federal level in MN. They all suck. Fuck ‘em. It’s either Republicans who will never agree with you vs democrats who spend years actively sabotaging your efforts before finally agreeing with you and then acting like they were the ones who did the work the whole time. Fuck those guys with a goddamned rail. Like there’s definitely some really cool politicians at the state and local levels and they’re all democrats, don’t get me wrong (I grew up near Sandra Masin, a state-level representative who’s just the sweetest lady and who has done a ton to expand public transit in the state as well as working alongside LGBT activists and has actively tried to defund the police while increasing funding to social programs, and while she’s probably the coolest state-level politican she’s also not *that* much cooler than most of the other ones I’ve worked with).  But, like... Having dealt with the 3rd congressional district’s reps before... they are basically never good or helpful people (although, admittedly, when I dealt with them it was Republicans Jim Ramstad or Eric Paulson, so 3rd district isn’t really representative of my “federal level Democrats aren’t really much better than Republicans” experiences). They’re just better at doing impressions of one than Michelle “palpable aura of evil” Bachman. 

Also, and I’m not trying to be flippant or dismissive when I say this, but like... yeah, the US is literally built on top of mass Native American graves, and Minnesota is built on it more than most other places. Like most of Minnesota has Mankato-level native American slaughter if you look back in their history. Not to say Mankato isn’t a shitty place (it super is) or that the slaughter used to establish the US is acceptable (it super isn’t) just like... it’s not what’s being discussed here? The question is not “which city took the most native blood to be founded” it’s “what city do people dunk on the most.” Nobody makes jokes about Mankato’s history of slaughter. Which is good because those jokes wouldn’t be funny. People do constantly make jokes about Edina being full of cake-eaters, or about Brainerd being... well, being a place called Brainerd. Like “Toolmaster of Brainerd” would not work if it were any other city in MN.
